Petros Sioutis, Silke Sage and Efstathios Efthimiadis have taken over MAFO’s former Media Welt publishing house from founder Jörg Spangemacher in August of this year under the new name EYEPRESS Fachmedien GmbH. As former employees of the company, all three have many years of experience in the publishing industry as well as in the optical industry. Petros Sioutis will be the new managing director, Silke Sage will be responsible for the editorial management and Efstathios Efthimiadis as the creative director will be responsible for layout and production. Sioutis graduated in Business Administration in 1991. Before taking over at Eyepress, he managed the business at MediaWelt for 17 years. As editor-in-chief of GlobalCONTACT for the past 10 years and also of FOCUS since 2012, Sage reported on the ophthalmic optics industry, which she knows in detail as a trained optometrist and engineer. With a professional background in layout and production and a passion for design, Efthimiadis has been in charge of MediaWelt’s creative aspects since 2007 and is now looking forward to investing his wealth of ideas in his own company. Together, the triumvirate will take the EYEPRESS Fachmedien GmbH into the future and publish the usual wide range of specialist magazines for experts from the various disciplines of the ophthalmic field.
EYEPRESS Fachmedien GmbH includes five German and English language magazines and three address directories.
In collaboration with optometrist Roshni Patel, Lenstore has used images to show how people with various eye diseases and visual impairments perceive everyday situations.

Hoya has been active in Germany since 1979. For many years, their German headquarters have been situated in Mönchengladbach. On November 23, 2019, a big anniversary party with more than 650 invited guests took place there with a top-class entertainment program with various artistic performances.
In the afternoon, as a prelude to the anniversary celebration, there was the opportunity to take part in a factory tour. More than 300 visitors took the opportunity to look behind the scenes of Europe’s most modern Hoya production and learn more about the manufacturing processes. The next stage of the event then led to the Borussia Park Mönchengladbach. Practically as a “warm-up” before the big show, the visitors were able to sniff stadium air and compete in the “Beat-the-Pro” against the Hoya-sponsored eSports team Borussia Mönchengladbach. This was followed by the presentation of the new premium progressive lens Hoyalux iD MySelf.
The words of welcome of Lord Mayor Hans Wilhelm Reiners then opened the official part of the jubilee celebration. The football expert and Sky commentator Erik Meijer led through a varied program – at his side: the Hoya management, represented by the Managing Director Mirjam Rösch and the Vice President Commercial Western Europe Oliver Fischbach. All visitors had the opportunity to celebrate at the following party with live music and DJ until late in the evening.
