About Stephan Schenk

Stephan Schenk most recently advised the Berlin-based startup hellomateo and supported its market launch in the optical retail sector. Previously, he was a member of the management board at Euronet Software GmbH and, following its acquisition by the EVEX Group, concurrently headed the group’s marketing, PR, and market research divisions in the DACH region. Other career milestones included a stint at DOZ-Verlag, where he served as managing director, and as editor-in-chief at markt Intern Verlag.

“With Stephan Schenk, Spectaris gaining a leader who has known the industry for decades, has an excellent network, and brings extensive experience in communications, market analysis, and strategic development,” says Mirjam Rösch, Chair of the Consumer Optics Trade Association and Vice Chair of Spectaris. “We are very much looking forward to working with him and to the new momentum he will bring to our trade association.”

Schenk himself says of his new role: “Optometry is my home. At Spectaris, I can now actively guide the optical industry into a new market phase. And that phase will be shaped by technological upheavals, new distribution models, and changing market opportunities.”

Thanks to Peter Frankenstein

At the same time, Peter Frankenstein, a highly respected industry representative who has shaped the optical industry for many years, is stepping down from the association. He has served as head of the Consumer Optics trade association for Spectaris since 1998. He has worked for Specatris since 1998—first as the association’s press spokesperson and then for over 25 years as head of the Consumer Optics trade association. In addition, he held other key positions within the industry, including serving as head of the Kuratorium Gutes Sehen (Board of Trustees for Good Vision) and as secretary general of the European optical industry association EUROM 1. With his many years of experience, his extensive network, and his deep understanding of the market and people, he shaped the industry for many years. His name is particularly closely associated with the SpectarisTrend Forum, which he built up over many years together with Jochen Reinke and developed into a regular gathering place for the industry.

Frankenstein was valued not only for his professional expertise and organizational talent, but also for his open, empathetic, and humorous nature. His positive charisma, down-to-earth nature, and ability to see beyond day-to-day business made him a valued conversation partner for many companies and colleagues.

“Peter Frankenstein shaped the Consumer Optics Trade Association for nearly three decades with his vast experience, deep industry knowledge, and great personal commitment,” said Mirjam Rösch. “He knows the industry and its players like few others, and is both a shrewd networker and a reliable contact. With his humor, his Rhineland charm, and his positive demeanor, he has also enriched our collaboration on a personal level over many years. It is no coincidence that so many people in the industry know and appreciate him. We thank him from the bottom of our hearts for his many years of service and our trusting collaboration.”
