EssilorLuxottica opens new R&D center in Thailand
EssilorLuxottica announced the opening of a new R&D center in Lat Krabang, Thailand, designed to accelerate how it develops, scales, and delivers the next generation of vision care solutions, wearables and medical technologies.
Located near its major manufacturing facilities, the 5,000-square-meter center will serve as a strategic hub for ophthalmic lens materials and manufacturing technologies, bringing together the entire value chain, from advanced materials research to industrial process development.
The facility features state-of-the-art research laboratories, development platforms, characterization facilities, and collaborative workspaces. Combining deep expertise in chemistry and polymer processing, the hub will advance research into next-generation optical lens materials and substrates manufacturing technologies.
This enables the development of high‑performance lenses while strengthening the connection between research and industrialization. Beyond its core focus on lenses, the center will also expand opportunities in upstream research for wearables and medical technologies.
Purpose-built to accelerate innovation cycles, the facility enables the rapid development and scaling of new materials and technologies, helping bring ideas to market faster and more effectively.
